The Browser Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise browser environments, focusing on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. This role ensures secure, performant, and compliant browser configurations across the organization, supporting both user experience and enterprise security standards. This role requires a high level of collaboration and consultation with website application owners Primary Responsibilities <ul><li>Browser Lifecycle Management:<ul><li>Oversee deployment, configuration, and update cycles for Edge and Chrome browsers.</li><li>Align browser release schedules with enterprise testing and compatibility requirements</li></ul></li><li>Extension & Enterprise Mode Management:<ul><li>Administer browser extensions, including packaging, approval workflows, and policy enforcement</li><li>Configure and maintain Enterprise Mode Site Lists to ensure legacy application compatibility</li></ul></li><li>Security and SSO:<ul><li>Define browser security baselines</li><li>Troubleshoot authentication failures and optimize login flows</li></ul></li><li>Certificate & Trusted Zone Management:<ul><li>Manage browser certificate stores and trusted site/zone configurations</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal PKI and external certificate authorities Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:</li><li>Investigate browser related issues including rendering problems, TLS handshake failures and extension conflicts</li><li>Collaborate with network and application teams to resolve cross-layer issues affecting browser performance</li></ul></li><li>Automation & Monitoring:<ul><li>Develop scripts and tools to automate browser configurations, telemetry collection and updates</li><li>Monitor browser health and usage using DEX tools or custom dashboards On-call may be required</li><li>On-call may be required</li></ul></li><li>Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so</li></ul> Required Qualifications: <ul><li>Experience: 5+ years in endpoint engineering or browser management roles</li><li>Technical Skills:<ul><li>Deep understanding of Chromium-based browser architecture including trouble shooting</li><li>Experience with Intune, Ivanti, or similar endpoint management platforms</li><li>Proficiency in PowerShell</li><li>Proficiency in Browser Security - Security baselines & policy management, browser isolation, SSO authentication technologies, extension management, trusted zone configurations</li><li>Solid analytical and communication skills</li><li>Ability to work cross-functionally with security, infrastructure, and application teams</li></ul></li></ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Experience working in a large endpoint environment over 50k</li><li>Experience working in a highly regulated industry, i.e. Insurance, Healthcare, Banking</li></ul> At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
