You’ll play a key role in architecting and building scalable APIs that integrate with Shopify and related e-commerce systems, while guiding the engineering team on best practices, design principles, and delivery excellence.This is not a typical front-end Shopify theme development role — it’s a backend-focused architecture and integration position, where you’ll shape how our systems interact with Shopify’s APIs, handle data exchange, and ensure performance, security, and maintainability at scale.You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, solution architects, and engineering peers to design domain-driven, event-driven systems that power large-scale commerce experiences.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead the design and development of backend systems that integrate with Shopify using Java (Micronaut) and RESTful APIs. </li><li>Define API contracts and ensure compliance with OpenAPI / AsyncAPI specifications. </li><li>Architect and build event-driven integrations leveraging Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns. </li><li>Establish engineering standards, including linting, formatting, security, and code quality practices. </li><li>Guide and mentor engineers in software architecture, clean code, and delivery excellence. </li><li>Collaborate with product and DevOps teams to enable scalable deployments, observability, and resilience. </li><li>Implement and enforce test automation, including unit, contract, and integration testing strategies. </li><li>Contribute to the creation of reusable components such as validators, interceptors, and shared libraries. </li><li>Drive continuous improvement through code reviews, technical documentation, and governance. </li></ul></body></html>
