The Open Source/Open Telemetry Collector team provides the next-generation data collector built on Open Telemetry to simplify and streamline the performance and behavior monitoring of complex distributed systems.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Design and implement features for an extremely robust and lean OpenTelemetry collection engine.</li><li>Good hands-on understanding of Kubernetes and the Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex issues in a production environment.</li><li>Write robust code with unit and integration tests.</li><li>Contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project.</li><li>Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our backend systems.</li><li>Work as a team member, helping the team respond quickly and effectively to business needs</li><li>Experience with CI and on-call production support</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline</li><li>5-8 years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership</li><li>Experience with GoLang or other statically typed language (Java, Scala, C++). Willingness to learn GoLang if you don't have the experience. </li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment</li><li>Understand the performance characteristics of commonly used data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc)</li><li>Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, solve problems and adapt to new technologies</li></ul>Nice to have<ul><li>Contributing to an open-source project and preferably open-source telemetry collection</li><li>Familiarity with the monitoring/observability space.</li><li>Working experience with GitHub Actions or other CI pipelines</li><li>A GitHub account with recent activity and contributions to open source projects</li><li>Experience in multi-threaded programming and distributed systems is highly desirable.</li><li>Comfortable working with Unix-type operating systems (Linux, OS X)</li><li>Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, etc.</li><li>Agile software development experience (test-driven development, iterative and incremental development)</li></ul>About UsSumo Logic, Inc. empowers the people who power modern, digital business.
