We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to hire, grow, and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team modernizing large-scale, customer-facing systems across various lines of business. Join us to own the end-to-end delivery and success of engineering resources that span modern distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled consumer experiences.   What will you do in this role     ·       Build and manage a diverse, high-performing engineering team (infrastructure engineers, cloud engineers, software engineers, etc.) — recruit, mentor, coach, and grow individual contributors and technical leaders. ·       Lead the full engineering lifecycle for your product area: architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operations. ·       Drive delivery commitments and program execution — plan, manage dependencies, and report status to stakeholders. ·       Make system-level architecture and design decisions; collaborate with engineers to select pragmatic, maintainable technical approaches. ·       Promote engineering excellence: reliability, scalability, observability, and sustainable engineering practices. ·       Represent the team in technical discussions and stakeholder escalations; prioritize and resolve stakeholder issues. ·       Ensure the team operates inclusively and sustainably, maintaining a healthy engineering pace and high morale. What should you have   <ul> <li> 7+ years Overall experience. </li></ul> ·       6+ years of hands-on engineering experience building multi-tier web services, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure. ·       1+ years of engineering management experience. ·       Proven track record of building and shipping production services at scale. ·       Experience designing and implementing robust software development practices: code reviews, source control, CI/CD, testing strategies, and incident management. ·       Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — able to distill technical trade-offs for technical and non-technical audiences. ·       Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain strong engineering talent and to develop people through coaching and feedback. ·       Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and balancing product, technical, and operational priorities. Preferred ·       Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), system lifecycle, automated testing, and on-premise systems. ·       Familiarity with LLMs, generative AI, or ML product development. ·       Proficiency in languages such as Go, Python, Java, Ruby or equivalent. ·       Track record of improving engineering practices, documentation, testing, and observability across teams. ·       Experience hiring across geographies and building inclusive, high-performing teams.   Who we are   We are known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada and MSD everywhere else.
