Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.   Roles and Responsibilities <ul><li>As a Research Engineer, you will:<ul><li>Dive into the simulation and analysis of complete system models for aircraft power distribution, hybrid electric propulsion, and more electric propulsion systems.</li><li>Design, develop, and build state-of-the-art power converters for hybrid electric and more electric applications.</li><li>Bring advanced controls to life in hardware, including the design and development of embedded controls using FPGA and microcontrollers.</li><li>Innovate high-frequency resonant converters tailored for aerospace applications.</li></ul></li><li>Showcase your research by writing and presenting to business customers and at technical conferences.</li><li>Collaborate with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team or take the reins independently to deliver project excellence.</li><li>Drive technical projects to success, meeting timelines and quality standards with unwavering dedication.</li><li>Leverage your deep understanding of key business drivers to integrate your work seamlessly with other teams, contributing to the broader mission.</li><li>Use your judgment and creativity to propose innovative solutions, drawing on your experience and on-the-job training.</li><li>Tap into a wealth of technical skills and analytical thinking to solve complex problems, utilizing multiple internal resources.</li><li>Demonstrate your exceptional interpersonal skills by providing informal guidance to new team members and fostering a collaborative environment.</li></ul>   Roles and responsibilities Model and analyze systems: Develop and validate models for aircraft power distribution, hybrid electric propulsion, and more‑electric propulsion. Design power converters: Architect and build advanced converters and high‑frequency resonant topologies for aerospace applications. Implement controls in hardware: Deploy control algorithms on FPGA/microcontrollers; transition designs from simulation to hardware. Ensure compliance and robustness: Design for EMI/EMC, thermal, and packaging constraints suitable for aerospace environments. Prototype and test: Lead PCB/hardware builds; execute test plans across model‑in‑the‑loop, HIL, and bench/rig validation (Opal‑RT/RT Box/dSPACE). Communicate and deliver: Present findings to stakeholders; drive projects to meet scope, quality, and schedule in cross‑functional teams. Required Qualifications <ul><li>Education/Experience: PhD in Electrical Engineering, or MS in EE/related field with 5+ years in power electronics and controls.</li><li>Core competencies:Control theory applied to power convertersElectrical/electromechanical system modeling and simulationPower semiconductor devices and gate‑drive designEMI/EMC design methods and standardsHigh‑frequency magnetics design fundamentals</li><li>Tools proficiency: PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink; FPGA/microcontroller development environments.</li><li>Engineering fundamentals: PCB design, hardware bring‑up, test and measurement, failure analysis.</li><li>HIL/real‑time exposure: Experience with real‑time simulation and hardware‑in‑the‑loop platforms (Opal‑RT, RT Box, dSPACE).</li><li>Professional skills: Clear communication, effective collaboration, and reliable delivery against commitments.</li></ul> Desired Characteristics <ul><li>Humble, Transparent, Focused</li><li>Leadership: communicates clearly, makes sound decisions, fosters collaboration</li><li>Problem solver: analytical, challenges assumptions, thinks critically</li></ul> At GE Aerospace we are always searching for great talent.
