We as an organization strongly promote people from diverse cultures, gender, ethnicity, language etc. to contribute to our growth story. There are four main pillars of the DEI roadmap:
- Build inclusive Behaviors
- Foster diverse, equitable and inclusive culture
- Create accountability
- Tell our story
To advance these agendas ahead, we launched an Employee Resource Group Women in Lenovo Leadership (WILL) in 2019, dedicated to the growth, advancement, and empowerment of Women under the key pillars of Inclusive Hiring, Career Enablement, Training for Managers, Training for female employees, Internal and External networking, Community Giving Back, Benefits, Communication & Branding.
Best Practices:
- EDGE Program launched in 2021 with the objective to provide accelerated career growth for Hi-Po women to enable them to take on broader managerial and leadership roles. This includes extensive training with various strategic workshops, live learning projects, mentorship with leaders and 360 assessments.
- Inclusive Intelligence Workshop for Managers: We humans have some unconscious bias in one way or other which may be counter-productive in the workplace. To fight this bias this workshop is targeted to create awareness about these biases and explore blind spots, leverage diversity of thought, and create psychological safety
- Building Allyship culture: This is aimed at creating a culture of allyship i.e., actions and behaviors that promote representation, celebrate diversity, and increase inclusion in our workplace
- Women in Lenovo Leadership (WILL) Month: This is a month-long program in March to celebrate International Women’s Day. This includes fireside chats with industry stalwarts to encourage women to break the stereotypes and increase their presence in male-dominated fields like sales, manufacturing, tech, and leadership. This also sponsors selected women to pursue their learning goals.
- CSR Initiatives: We are one among the many in the society and being a part of the society, we uphold some responsibility. To contribute to women’s growth, we have partnered with many NGOs to run programs like Lenovo Motorola Skill Academy, Meghashala to provide technical skills, STEM education trainings, career counselling, employability skills etc. We have also partnered with some international NGOs to run some campaigns like #ThisLittleGirlIsMe Campaign
As a result of these initiatives, Lenovo India won DEI award for ‘Gender Balanced Organization’ in Ask Insights & TOI D.I.C.E. Summit in May’22.

Meenakshi, Chief Financial Officer – India Lenovo shares her thoughts on diversity as a core value at Lenovo.
"Our life here at Lenovo starts with Competitive Diversity rather than Gender Diversity. It is a simple belief that the more diverse we are, the more nurtured thoughts we'll have in innovation and execution. Lenovo as an organization gives you the platform to experience everything – whether it is trying, failing, or succeeding at new ideas and being vocal about the whole experience. My almost five-year journey at Lenovo has been a transition – from good to better to the best! Having personally worked in multiple areas of finance makes me believe that this field is wide open for all of us. The fact that the word 'gender' never crossed my thoughts at work and that I could always express my point of view freely makes me feel immensely proud of our culture. As a manager, when we hire, we look for the talent in individuals, and as an employee when we perform, we see pride. This is Lenovo to me. Other elements of our culture like fearlessness, fairness, work-life balance, and trust complement gender diversity, which is our key driver.
I have never experienced a more diverse team that has such high standards of performance and commitment. Personally, to me, gender diversity means inception and we can only thrive from there on to make the most of it.
