Founded by Priya Agrawal in 2013, Antarang Foundation envisions a world where all young adults make career choices aligned to their unique aptitudes and interests, develop essential skills, and make informed school-to-work transitions.

Antarang works with state governments to build a bridge between school and work by embedding a 4-year, high-quality, geographically customised, actionable career awareness and readiness model for grades 9 to 12 students in high schools across the country.

The CareerAware program equips students from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in grades 9 and 10 with tools to make informed career decisions. And the CareerReady program for at-risk youth aged 18-25 in grades 11 and 12. Both programs are run as part of the high school curriculum by a cadre of trained career facilitators, which includes secondary school teachers and young professionals.

The support has had a huge impact, with as many as 88% of its beneficiaries now in education, employment, entrepreneurship, or technical training (EEET), a significant increase over national averages. The Antarang Careers Model has impacted over 4,50,000 youth and built the foundation for state education systems to adopt the model.

Combining offline resources such as student career workbooks, OMR-based career diagnostic tools, and a 24/7 career chatbot, Antarang enables personalised career guidance even in remote areas with limited digital access.

That way, Antarang’s integrated four-year career model addresses two critical dropout points after Grade 10 and Grade 12 by working with individuals defined as "not engaged" in education, employment, entrepreneurship, or technical training (NEEET) early in their lives by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Nearly 25% of Indians aged 15 - 24 fall in this category.

Antarnag’s initiatives and approach are different from other skilling and training programmes, as its focus is on student aspirations and transferable future-focussed work readiness rather than a skill that industry needs immediately; and different from other job placement models, because Antarang recognizes that there are many paths to socio-economic mobility besides employment in the formal economy, including higher education, entrepreneurship, or trade.

A Great Place to Work™ Certified organisation, even after Antarang’s beneficiaries/ students successfully transition from school-to-work, structured alumni support continues to be duly supported by local industry partners who provide hands-on work experience and awareness about the world of work.
